All the World’s A Stage: Site-Specific Dance and Performance

What’s in a stage?! Site-specific performance abandons the idea that dance must be confined to traditional theatre and performance venues and instead embraces performances in any variety of nontraditional spaces! Dance on a park bench? Absolutely! Along the Big Four Bridge? Heck yes! In this workshop, we’ll deconstruct how to use and create strategic and compelling performances in a variety of nontraditional spaces. Using a variety of techniques from choreography composition and dance improvisation, dancers will utilize a variety of scores and collaborative techniques to stage their very own site-specific dances. Each workshop will conclude with a short performance showcasing the work that was designed and developed over the course of the workshop!
