Annual Performances

Summer Performance Series

Every summer, Ambo Dance Theatre engages in a wide variety of outreach programming and community performances, showcasing our company repertory and premiering new works!

Averaging 30 performances, this series allows us to expand our company's reach to diverse audiences across Greater Louisville and national festivals such as WorldFest, Shakespear in the Park, How To Festival, and the Summer Cultural Pass.

Kentucky NACHMO Dance Festival

The National Cheoreography Month (NACHMO) program challenges choreographers, dancers, and movement enthusiasts to create new dance works each January. As the NACHMO Louisville Hub Ambo Dance Theatre proudly presents the annual Kentucky NACHMO Dance Festival in March featuring works from Ambo Dance Theatre artists and local creatives from in and around Kentucky.

The Graham Cracker: Nutcracker Parody

Ambo Dance Theatre's original, reimagined version tells the coming-of-age tale of Nutcracker heroine Clara as she discovers and acknowledges her queer identity, taking audiences on a psychedelic sugar rush perfect for the whole family. Her journey through battles, snowstorms, and the Land of Sweets helps bring a comical story behind the origin of the s'more, and helps her to process the complex emotions that come with self-discovery, acceptance, and love!
